Meeting purposely done underwater? Talk about ineffiency!

Wow ... the last thing you want is to demonstrate your inefficiency in front of the whole world. The Maldives, islands on the coast on Sri Lanka, is petitioning underwater to amplify their cause; sea level rising due to global warming. I must say this; it's creative and will get a lot of media, but it's really really obtuse.

This exhibits two things, one; the islands of Maldives are all followers to the rest of the world, second; they have nothing better to do. Why is everyone all strongly swayed in their opinion that the world is going to end? We are worrying about a weak hypothesis. We are worrying about a really weak hypothesis on the verge of being refuted. In fact, I can tell you why global warming is a myth, but I have nothing to support that global warming is a fact. All we have are puny pictures that shows warming on a small small scale.

Now, let me ask you something; when has the rise of sea level ever killed someone? Or caused any destruction property value? Or even hurt anything? The answer is never. In fact, sea level isn't at all evident yet. There had, and always will, be a balance in sea level. I was in China last year, and the Yellow River's sea level actually decreased. A bunch of land that were once part of the river was exposed.

And most importantly, the action exhibited by the Maldives show that they are inefficient. This really show that some government have nothing else to do besides taking a dive. Shouldn't they be in their offices? Maybe, oh I don't know, doing work?

Anyways, the objective of the post is to show that even the government don't do their homework before executing an event. If they are really to petition, gather a lot of people rather than soaking the petition underwater. Thanks.

  1. First off, thanks Bwangme for fixing the comments function!

See these two links for graphs depicting sea level changes. The first is recent and the second is over hundreds of millions of years.

I believe that these two graphs really show the minuscule effect human operations have in the grand picture of Earth's ecosystem. Also note that the sea level in the first graph seems to be increasing linearly, suggesting a constant (not increasing!) amount of factors that cause sea level to rise.

Finally, a question: was this meeting held on land that was really sunk by rising seas or did the government have to construct a new building or whatever especially for this?

  2. Exactly; humans are doing things on a scale just absolutely too small to be actually doing any harm. It's just accepted because it's logical. People believe it because we believe what we want to believe, and by the fact that it's a popular idea. Yeah, humans may be technologically advanced, but we can't do much. 2 volcanic eruptions produced as much carbon emission as the industrial revolution.

Because human-caused calamities are always too small scale, this kind of makes me rethink nuclear winter... Can a couple of atomic bombs really shift the balance of the world?

  3. I actually think that we are capable of doing a lot, but that our current operations are doing comparatively little harm to the ecosystem. I say that we are capable of doing a lot because there really is a danger that a powerful nuclear bomb destroys a large part of the Earth, upsets tides, weather, and other systems, or even shifts the whole Earth off of orbit. Just how powerful are atomic bombs -- I don't think we should write off this particular weapon as insignificant.

  4. Do you recommend the shoutbox? I took it off because of the distracting ads that make sound.

  5. Well, so much for "weak" nuclear force. Seems pretty dynamic to me ...

  6. No, I agree that the ads were a bit obtrusive. I'm really surprised that there is no shoutbox gadget, though. It seems like a good feature to have. Anyhow, I like the new layout a lot. (However, you do have two lists of labels: one list one cloud.)

  7. yeah, I know that. I like both. The list doesn't include all the tabs, but the cluster includes everything. hmmm. quest for a quality ad-free shoutbox.
